Naples Superior cross nation runner Isaiah Barajas has been voted the Naples Every day News Athlete of the Week sponsored by Babcock Ranch for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Barajas was the best Collier County runner at the Immokalee Invitational, using fourth put with a time of 16 minutes, 38.30 seconds. He obtained 362 of the 1,802 votes (20.1 percent) in the Day-to-day News’ on-line poll.
Barron Collier football player Daniel Meleqi finished second in the poll with 326 votes (18.1 p.c), adopted by Naples swimmer Havanna Layton with 303 votes (16.8 percent).
A new Athlete of the Week poll will be posted each and every Monday, and voting is open till 10 a.m. Thursday. Winners receive an Athlete of the Week T-shirt delivered by BSN Sports.
